TOPofART wants to remind you to keep patient, in order to get you the highest quality, being our mission to fulfill your expectations.

We not stretch and frame our oil paintings due to several reasons:
Painting reproduction is a high quality expensive product, which we cannot risk to damage by sending it being stretched.
Also, there are postal restrictions, regarding the size of the shipment.
Additionally, due to the dimensions of the stretched canvas, the shipment price may exceed the price of the product itself.

You can stretch and frame your painting in your local frame-shop.

Once the painting The Marquis of Vasto Addressing his Troops is ready and dry, it will be shipped to your delivery address. The canvas will be rolled-up in a secure postal tube.

Titian - Allocution of Alfonso d'Avalos

Pietro Aretino, in a letter of 1540, announced to d'Avalos the arrival of a little sketch of the Allocution, the completed version of which would be delivered to the Marquis in 1541 in Milan, where he ruled as Governor of the Duchy. It is not known whether the Allocution refers to a particular feat of arms.D'Avalos had distinguished himself in the struggle against the Turks, both in the Mediterranean and on the Continent.

The work is interesting. The Marquis, standing with his son Ferrante, who serves him as page, addresses his troops. He wears a dark cuirass, which we know that the painter bought in Brescia as an exact model. Against the over-all darks, the reddish tones of the clothes and sky stand out. This sobriety gives greater prominence to the force of the figures, which have the authentic Mannerist stamp. The lighting has been applied to emphasize a somewhat theatrical effect. The passage, suggesting the presence of the army by means of dark lances against a flashing sky, has been considered a precedent for Velazquez' 'Surrender of Breda'.
