We not stretch and frame our oil paintings due to several reasons:

Additionally, due to the dimensions of the stretched canvas, the shipment price may exceed the price of the product itself.

You can stretch and frame your painting in your local frame-shop.

Once the painting The Three Ages of Woman is ready and dry, it will be shipped to your delivery address. The canvas will be rolled-up in a secure postal tube.

Over 20 Years Experience
Only Museum Quality

The paintings we create are only of museum quality. Our academy graduated artists will never allow a compromise in the quality and detail of the ordered painting. TOPofART do not work, and will never allow ourselves to work with low quality studios from the Far East. We are based in Europe, and quality is our highest priority.

After the death of his baby son, Otto, in 1902, Klimt became fascinated by columnar structures symbolizing life and death.

In this particular piece, the bright, frieze-like central section stands out against an unusual background of horizontal elements, featuring a black cloud and a panel of silver rain. This gloomy expanse intentionally diminishes the splendor of the colorful panel, shifting the mood from a joyous celebration of life to one of futility and hopelessness. This sense of emptiness is embodied in the bent figure of the old woman, whose prominence is amplified by Klimt's return to detailed realism, evident in the heavily veined, aging skin on her outstretched arm. This contrasts sharply with the youthful complexion of the young mother, whose serene beauty, rather than uplifting, appears wasted and dissipated - a stark departure from Klimt's usual glorification of female loveliness.

The world Klimt presents here is one of decay, reminiscent of "The Procession of the Dead" (1903), where emaciated figures echo this sunken old woman. This theme re-emerges in Klimt's later Expressionist painting, "Death and Life" (1911-16), where Death is personified, complete with a skull and cudgel, poised to beat the life out of a baby boy - a poignant representation of Otto.
