We not stretch and frame our oil paintings due to several reasons:
Painting reproduction is a high quality expensive product, which we cannot risk to damage by sending it being stretched.
Also, there are postal restrictions, regarding the size of the shipment.
Additionally, due to the dimensions of the stretched canvas, the shipment price may exceed the price of the product itself.

In the reduction and simplification of composed images, Melendez went back to 17th-century Italian and Dutch models of the school of Caravaggio. and shows influences from Velazquez, whom he undoubtedly observed with filial spirit. Thus the single source of light isolates and exalts every object with its own individual colouration, and scans the connection along the diagonal that meets the trihedral disposition of vases on the left. There is no lack of textural observation and sensitive taste for materials, especially in the meat of the salmon, the difference between the vessels, the translucent lemon peel. The immobile composition has authority and a silent density. It has been pondered and animated in terms of light and colour and has a lasting, intense fascination. In pictures like this, Melendez passed over the recent fashion for the Flemish taste or for Mario dei Fiori, as seen in such immediate precedents as the work of Juan de Arellano or Perez, and returned to the models of Sanchez Cotan, Juan de Espinosa, Pedro de Camprobin and other artists of the first half of the 17th century.
