Hermann David Salomon Corrodi was an Italian artist known for his orientalist paintings, particularly his depictions of Middle Eastern and North African landscapes.

Corrodi was born on July 23, 1844, in Frascati, Italy, to a Swiss father and an English mother. He studied at the Academy of St Luke under his father, Salomon Corrodi. In 1865, he moved to Munich, Germany, to further his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts.

In Munich, Corrodi became interested in orientalist art and began to focus on painting scenes from the Middle East and North Africa. He made his first trip to Egypt in 1873, where he was fascinated by the country's rich culture and stunning landscapes. He would make several more trips to the region throughout his life, including visits to Turkey, Syria, and Tunisia.

Corrodi's paintings of the Middle East and North Africa were well-received in Europe, and he became known as one of the leading orientalist painters of his time. He was particularly admired for his ability to capture the light and atmosphere of the region in his paintings.

In addition to his orientalist works, Corrodi also painted landscapes and genre scenes from his native Switzerland. He was a member of the Munich and Berlin Academies of Fine Arts and exhibited his works widely throughout Europe. In 1896, he was awarded the Order of Merit by the King of Bavaria.

Corrodi remained active as an artist until his death on December 22, 1905, in Rome, Italy. His works are now held in collections around the world.
