François-Joseph Navez (1787-1869) was a Belgian neoclassical painter. He was born in Mons and studied under Jacques-Louis David in Paris. Navez was one of the prominent painters in Belgium during the 19th century and was known for his portraits, historical paintings, and genre scenes.
