Nicolaes Berchem (1620-1683) was a Dutch Golden Age painter, born in Haarlem, Netherlands. He is best known for his landscapes and genre scenes depicting Italianate landscapes and pastoral settings. Berchem was influenced by the works of Italian Renaissance painters such as Claude Lorrain and was a member of the Bentvueghels, a group of Dutch and Flemish artists who traveled to Italy.
